Akua Firms
I am Akua Firms, the founder and owner of New Journey Transitional Housing Services for single women. As a mother of three grown children, I embarked on my own journey when I moved from New York to North Carolina many years ago to seek a better life for my family. During my time here in North Carolina, I discovered my passion for helping people. My loving husband supports me as I take on this new journey.

Our history
I pursued and earned my Human Services degree, receiving an Associate's Degree in Applied Science from Central Piedmont Community College. Over the past 10 years, I have worked with the homeless population and witnessed the urgent need for change. This led to the creation of New Journey, recognizing that single women require the same help and assistance often prioritized for mothers with children.

My Why
I am excited to assist the single women of the Charlotte metro area in securing permanent housing and achieving self-sufficiency, making lasting changes in their lives.
